Basics of Administrative Programs

Before you invest your time and money in an online administrative program you should know what to look for.

There are many excellent administrative programs that can give you the skills and accreditation needed to get a better job but there are also some fly by night operations that can rip you off. To tell the difference between the scams and the real schools you will need to know what the basics of administrative programs are.

Never invest your money or spend your time on an administrative program online that doesn’t include the basics. Here are a few of the basics that you need to look for.

Basic Features of a Good Online Administrative Program

  • Accreditation – A program must be an accredited school. This means it is officially recognized and so are its degrees. Studying for an unaccredited degree is a waste of time. Accredited schools will come right out and say so. Unaccredited ones will hide the fact.
  • Financial Aid – Legitimate schools will make sure you can meet their academic requirements before seeking financial aid for you. Fraudulent schools will test to see if you can qualify for financial aid and sign up anybody who qualifies for it.

  • Requirements – Legitimate schools will have requirements for entry into their programs. For example: a legitimate MBA program will require you to have a have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school. Legitimate programs will usually ask for proof of your education in the form of a transcript. If a school doesn’t ask for transcripts that’s a sign of a scam.

  • A course that takes a reasonable length of time – A legitimate college or vocational school degree will take a minimum of at least two years to get. If a school can guarantee a diploma or certificate in just a few months that diploma isn’t worth the paper its printed on.

  • A qualified faculty – A legitimate school will post a lot of information about its faculty. It’ll post their names, educational backgrounds and other qualifications. Always be leery of schools that tell you nothing about their faculty.

  • Library – A legitimate online school should have an online library that includes all of the resources you need including text books. All of the data needed for research should be there as well. This should be made available of you through the school’s website and its cost should be covered by your tuition. Don’t get involved with a school that doesn’t have such a library available online or charges you extra for it.

  • Faculty availability – The faculty should be available to you on a reasonable basis. That is you should be able to send them an e-mail and they should get back to you in a few hours. If the faculty isn’t available to answer your questions and provide advice you’re wasting your money.

  • Online resources – It should be possible to access all the sources of the school online at all times. These resources should include the library, faculty, academic advisors, school administration, financial aid, transcripts, coursework and tests. If these resources aren’t available to you 24 hours a day you are wasting your money.

  • Proof of claims – Finally school representatives should be able to give you proof that their degrees and curriculum can help you get a job. This could take the form of individuals employed in your areas or employers who hire their graduates. If they can do this, it might be a good idea to go elsewhere.
