Scholarships Available for Administrative Students

Scholarships are one of the best sources of funding available for education. Unlike financial aid scholarships don’t have to be repaid so you should always try to locate scholarships if your funding for education is limited.

Something to keep in mind is that most scholarships will not pay the full cost of a course or program. Look into all scholarships because even a scholarship that only covers the cost of part of your education will save you money. If you can shave just a few hundred dollars off the cost of your education you can save money.

Most scholarships are available to very specific individuals such as members of minority groups or persons in a particular business. Many professional organizations sponsor scholarships for their members.

Where to Look for Scholarships

  • /www.collegescholarships.org A website that lists a wide variety of scholarships in many different subjects. It breaks down scholarships by type. Administration scholarships are among those listed.
  • Professional groups just as health care professionals often sponsor scholarships. If you are a member of a professional group or a society such as a fraternity check and see if they sponsor a scholarship. Some organizations sponsor scholarships for their members.

  • Your employer. Some companies sponsor scholarships for their employees. Ask and see especially if you are taking advantage of tuition reimbursement.

  • Your community. In many communities, community groups and wealthy local individuals sponsor scholarships. Check with groups like Rotary and Kiwanis. If you are a member of a particular ethnic group check with organizations of members of that group. For example NAACP for African Americans.

  • Ethnic organizations. There are many ethnic organizations including some that represent persons of a particular heritage in a specific field such as black administrators. These groups often sponsor scholarships for persons.

  • The news media. News media local newspapers in particular may list scholarships available in a particular area.

  • Local and state government. In many areas both local and state governments sponsor various scholarships. Some government agencies sponsor scholarships for those who work for them.

  • Your school. Check with your school to see what scholarships they are aware. Scholarships could be listed on your school’s website. The financial aid department should also be aware of scholarships for students. Also ask about hardship programs they have for deserving students. Some schools will provide aid to students in distress.

  • Your church or house of worship. Some religious groups do have scholarships for their members. Ask your church leaders or clergy person if they are aware of any scholarships.

  • Foundations. These are organizations set up to give away money. Many of them sponsor scholarships. If there is one in your community or you know of one contact it. Many foundations direct scholarships to a particular group or individuals from a certain area.

How to Apply

The main thing to remember is that you can not get a scholarship if you don’t apply for it. Therefore apply for any scholarship that you think you might apply. In most cases it won’t cost you any money but it can help you cover tuition costs.
